Waikiki is famous for its beaches with the scenic Diamond Head (Leahi) as a backdrop. The most famous is the iconic Waikiki Beach. The bronzed statue of Duke Kahanamoku, Waikikis surfing legend, welcomes you to Kuhio Beach. With calm waters and a sheltered beach, Kuhio is great for families and beginner surfers. Extending into the ocean is the Kapahulu Pier with beautiful views of the Waikiki shoreline. Visit the man-made beach and lagoon of Duke Kahanamoku Beach, named after this local legend. The wide stretch of white sand and offshore coral reef, makes Fort DeRussy Beach one of Waikikis most popular beaches. Here you will find the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, with excellent exhibits and an extensive collection of artifacts.

Things to Do in Waikiki

Diamond Head (Leahi) is one of Honolulus most iconic attractions. Hike to the summit for breathtaking views of Waikiki and the south coast of Oahu. At the foot of Diamond Head lies Kapiolani Park, a century-old park home to the Waikiki Shell Amphitheatre and the Honolulu Zoo, a must see attraction and home to more than 1200 animals including elephants, rhinos, lions, zebras and giraffes. Across the street on the shoreline of the Sans Souci State Recreational Park is the Waikiki Aquarium, with five indoor galleries and four outdoor exhibit areas with more than 2,500 resident marine animals. Great fun for the family and located on the reef protected San Souci Beach, one of Waikikis best beaches for swimming and families. Discover the history of Waikiki on the Waikiki Historic Trail with bronzed surfboard markers etched with historical information. The attractions and beaches of Waikiki are within easy walking distance of each other, however the best way to explore would be to take a ride on the Waikiki Trolley: the scenic attraction green trolley, the historic and cultural sights red trolley and the shopping and dining pink trolley.
